Join Mimo and Me in Florence and Cinque Terre, Italy
A TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP | OCTOBER 12-16, 2026
Join KelbyOne instructor and master of long-exposure photography, Mimo Meidany, and me in some of Italy's most romantic cities for an unforgettable photography journey.
Florence is a top destination for photographers because it concentrates an extraordinary amount of art, architecture, and history into a compact, walkable city. Renaissance masterpieces fill landmarks like the Duomo (seen above), Uffizi, and Ponte Vecchio, while everyday streets and piazzas feel like open‑air museums, making it easy to capture beauty simply by wandering around with our cameras. We’ll also take a day trip by train to the five coastal towns of Cinque Terre, which are remarkably photogenic, quaint, and full of character and charm.
In 2025, Florence was named Europe’s best city for travelers in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards, with readers praising its architecture, Renaissance heritage, food, and welcoming character. Florence was also among the top‑ranked cities worldwide, underscoring its strong standing even among other famous European destinations.
We’ll split our time between shooting on location in Florence and Cinque Terre, and learning and post-processing our images in the classroom.
(Note: This workshop is limited to just 14 participants.)
Three reasons why Florence and Cinque Terra are awesome:
Florence and Cinque Terre are wonderful because they offer strikingly different but complementary settings in a relatively small area. Florence gives you Renaissance architecture, domes, bridges, and piazzas, while Cinque Terre adds colorful cliffside villages and dramatic coastal views. Together, they let photographers tell a rich visual story in a single trip, from cityscapes and street scenes to seascapes and sunsets.
The light in both places is especially rewarding. In Florence, sunrise and sunset bathe the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and the Arno in warm tones, with reflections on the river and soft street light in the historic center. In Cinque Terre, golden and blue hours highlight the pastel houses stacked over the sea, with boats, harbors, and rugged cliffs giving strong lines and layers for compositions.
Both destinations are inspiring to work in. Florence is compact and walkable, with many viewpoints—like riverbanks and hilltop terraces—within easy reach, while Cinque Terre’s network of trails and short train hops link multiple photogenic villages in a day. This combination of accessibility, variety, and iconic scenery makes the pair ideal for photographers who want a high yield of spectacular images without complicated logistics.
It’s going to be a fun, unique, and exciting workshop filled with photographic opportunities, learning experiences, and opportunities to make new friends (not to mention sampling a lot of incredible Italian food). This is one you do not want to miss.
